Real 2027 start dates for all 15 Tibet group tours, grouped by route: Everest Base Camp, Mount Kailash, the Chengdu overland and Lhasa–Kathmandu lines, with prices from $650.
Quick answer: Our ground operator runs 15 fixed-date Tibet group tours through 2027, with departures roughly every 3 to 10 days on the Everest Base Camp routes, every one to two weeks on the Lhasa–Kathmandu overland route, and seasonally on Mount Kailash (late April to mid-October) and the Chengdu overland lines (mid-April to late October). Every date below comes straight from that operator's real calendar, prices run from $650 (5-day Lhasa & Yamdrok) to $3,130 (15-day Chengdu, Daocheng Yading & Lhasa, peak season), and bookings close 5 weeks before departure so the Tibet Travel Permit can be processed. The full, always-current list is on our live departures page.
Fixed-date group tours are the cheapest way to see Tibet, but only if a date actually lines up with your travel window. This page pulls the real 2027 start dates for every one of our group routes straight from the operator's booking calendar, grouped by trip so you can see at a glance how often each one runs and what it costs in each season. Nothing here is estimated: these are the same dates that show up in our booking system, and the live table at /departures updates daily as the five-week booking window moves forward.
How the Fixed-Departure Calendar Works
Every group tour on this site is run by one licensed Tibet ground operator on a published calendar, not invented per enquiry. A few things are worth knowing before you read the dates below:
- Five-week booking window. Dates inside the next 35 days are not listed, because the Tibet Travel Permit and your China/Tibet entry paperwork need about that long to process from your passport and visa details. If you see a date here, it is bookable; the operator confirms your place and starts the permit paperwork once you pay the deposit.
- "Open" vs "Confirmed." Most dates show as Open – enquire, meaning the departure is on the calendar and we will confirm your seat on request. A date shows as Confirmed only once we already hold a booking on it that the operator has acknowledged.
- Group size. Each departure runs with as few as one traveller and takes no more than 12 (10 on the Chengdu 10-day route), so a solo traveller or a family of five books onto the same fixed date as everyone else.
- Seasonal pricing. Prices step up through the year: lowest in the November–February low season, a mid-tier through spring and autumn, and the highest tier across the May–October peak and the October Golden Week. The jump is the same route, the same itinerary — just the season.
- February–March caveat. Tibet usually closes to foreign travellers for part of February–March most years (timing varies), and the operator's calendar is adjusted accordingly closer to the date. We confirm the exact status of every departure before you pay.
- No date that fits? Every one of these itineraries also runs as a private tour on a day of your choosing — see our private vs. group pricing guide for how that compares.
Everest Base Camp Group Departures in 2027
Five of our group routes are round trips from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp, ranging from a fast 7 days to a 12-day trip that adds Nyingchi and Namtso Lake. The 7-, 8- and 9-day routes leave about twice a week in April–June, September and October and about weekly the rest of the year; the 11- and 12-day Nyingchi routes leave about weekly all year. The Lhasa–Kathmandu overland tour, the 13- and 16-day Kailash trips and the Shoton festival tour also reach base camp; they are listed further down.
| Route | Length | From (low season) | From (peak season) | 2027 departures listed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7-Day Lhasa & Everest Base Camp | 7 days | $860 | $1,140 | 74 |
| 8-Day Lhasa & Everest Base Camp | 8 days | $900 | $1,140 | 74 |
| 9-Day Lhasa, Everest Base Camp & Namtso Lake | 9 days | $1,120 | $1,440 | 74 |
| 11-Day Lhasa, Nyingchi & Everest Base Camp | 11 days | $1,310 | $1,690 | 51 |
| 12-Day Lhasa, Nyingchi, Everest Base Camp & Namtso | 12 days | $1,410 | $1,800 | 51 |
The 9-Day Lhasa, Nyingchi, Yamdrok Lake & Shigatse Group Tour runs on the same weekly calendar as the 11- and 12-day Nyingchi routes ($1,120 in low season, $1,440 in peak season, 51 departures listed for 2027), but it turns back at Shigatse and does not go to Everest Base Camp.
Our most-booked Everest route is the 9-Day Lhasa, Everest Base Camp & Namtso Lake Group Tour, which visits Lhasa, Yamdrok Lake, Shigatse, Everest Base Camp and Namtso in one trip. Its real first-of-month 2027 start dates:
| Month | First 2027 departure | From (pp, twin-share) |
|---|---|---|
| January | Jan 5 | $1,120 |
| February | Feb 5 | $1,270 |
| March | Mar 4 | $1,270 |
| April | Apr 1 | $1,270 |
| May | May 3 | $1,440 |
| June | Jun 2 | $1,270 |
| July | Jul 1 | $1,440 |
| August | Aug 2 | $1,440 |
| September | Sep 2 | $1,270 |
| October | Oct 1 | $1,440 |
| November | Nov 1 | $1,120 |
| December | Dec 6 | $1,120 |

Each month listed above has 3 to 8 further departures on the full calendar; see the live table on the tour page or the complete, always-current list at /departures. The other four routes in the table have their own calendars, at the frequencies given above.
Mount Kailash & Guge Kingdom Departures in 2027
Mount Kailash and the far-western Guge Kingdom ruins are reachable only in the warmer months: the kora around Kailash and the overland crossing of Ngari's high passes do not run in winter. All three Kailash-family routes list dates from late April through mid-October only.
| Route | Length | From | 2027 season |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13-Day Everest & Mount Kailash, ending at the Nepal border | 13 days | $1,390 | Late April – mid October |
| 14-Day Mount Kailash Kora, Guge & Northern Lakes | 14 days | $1,460 | Early May – early October |
| 16-Day Everest, Mount Kailash Kora & Guge Kingdom | 16 days | $1,580 | Late April – mid October |
The 14-day route's full 2027 calendar, since there are only 11 departures for the whole season:
May 6 ($1,460) · May 20 ($1,460) · Jun 3 ($1,460) · Jun 17 ($1,460) · Jul 3 ($1,690) · Jul 19 ($1,690) · Aug 3 ($1,690) · Aug 21 ($1,690) · Sep 7 ($1,690) · Sep 21 ($1,690) · Oct 6 ($1,690)
With roughly two departures a month and a long, remote itinerary, Kailash dates are worth locking in early, especially for the May and June slots. Read more in our Mount Kailash pilgrimage guide and Guge Kingdom guide.
Lhasa to Kathmandu Overland Departures in 2027
The 7-Day Lhasa to Kathmandu Overland Group Tour crosses into Nepal via the Gyirong border, visiting Everest Base Camp on the way. It runs on a lighter schedule than the Everest round trips: about every two weeks, and weekly in April–June and September:
| Quarter | 2027 departures | From |
|---|---|---|
| Jan – Mar | Jan 12, Jan 26, Feb 12, Feb 26, Mar 11, Mar 25 | $1,100–$1,200 |
| Apr – Jun | Apr 1, Apr 8, Apr 15, Apr 22, May 5, May 12, May 19, May 26, Jun 2, Jun 9, Jun 16, Jun 23 | $1,200–$1,310 |
| Jul – Sep | Jul 1, Jul 16, Jul 30, Aug 13, Aug 30, Sep 6, Sep 13, Sep 20, Sep 27 | $1,200–$1,310 |
| Oct – Dec | Oct 8, Oct 15, Oct 25, Nov 8, Nov 22, Dec 6, Dec 20 | $1,100–$1,200 |
For the full logistics of the border crossing itself, see our Lhasa to Kathmandu overland guide. Travelling the other direction, Kathmandu to Lhasa, uses the same fixed dates; tell us your preferred direction when you enquire.
Chengdu Overland Departures in 2027

Two routes start in Chengdu and drive the Sichuan–Tibet Highway (G318) to Lhasa rather than flying or training in:
| Route | Length | From | 2027 departures listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-Day Chengdu to Lhasa Overland (G318) | 10 days | $2,050 | 13 |
| 15-Day Chengdu to Lhasa with Daocheng Yading & Shigatse | 15 days | $2,750 | 7 |
The 10-day route's 2027 dates: Apr 16, Apr 30, May 14, May 28, Jun 11, Jun 25 (all $2,050); Jul 30 ($2,240); Aug 27 ($2,050); Sep 10, Sep 17 ($2,050); Sep 30 ($2,240); Oct 8, Oct 22 ($2,050). The 15-day Daocheng Yading route runs once a month from mid-April to mid-October: the 15th of each month, $2,750 outside July–September and $3,130 during them. Both are overland-only (no flight or train segment) and browsable from the tours from Chengdu page.
Short Lhasa Trip & Festival-Only Departures
The 5-Day Lhasa & Yamdrok Lake Group Tour (from $650) runs on the same calendar as the 8- and 9-day Everest routes above — about twice a week in April–June, September and October, and about weekly the rest of the year — making it the easiest short trip to slot into an existing 2027 itinerary.
Two routes run on a single named date tied to a festival rather than a repeating calendar:
- 9-Day Nyingchi Peach Blossom Group Tour (from $1,630): one 2027 departure, April 1, timed to the Nyang River valley's peach blossom season.
- 9-Day Lhasa Shoton Festival & Everest Base Camp Group Tour (from $1,500): one 2027 departure, August 29, timed to the Shoton (Yogurt) Festival in Lhasa.
Because both festivals shift slightly from year to year, check back closer to 2028 for next year's exact dates, or enquire and we'll confirm as soon as the operator publishes them. More on Tibet's festival calendar generally is in our Tibetan Festival Calendar guide.
Planning Around These Dates
If you are building a trip around a specific window, our itinerary guide and how-to-plan guide cover how these routes compare for pacing and highlights, and our Tibet travel cost guide breaks down exactly what each price tier includes. If you'd rather not match a fixed date at all, every itinerary above also runs privately on a day of your choosing.

FAQs
It depends on the route. The Everest Base Camp round trips from Lhasa (7 to 12 days) run all year: the 7-, 8- and 9-day routes about twice a week in April–June, September and October and about weekly otherwise, and the 11- and 12-day Nyingchi routes about weekly year-round. The Lhasa to Kathmandu overland tour also runs year-round, about every two weeks and weekly in April–June and September. Mount Kailash and Guge Kingdom routes run only from late April to mid-October, and the Chengdu overland routes from mid-April to late October, since those are seasonal, remote itineraries. Festival-linked tours (Peach Blossom, Shoton) run on a single date each year.
